Friday, January 9th Several new things in my world:
We got fancy new TV/Internet/Phone package, so now we have an ungodly number of TV Channels available (it took me 3 days to figure out how to get to OETA, because new technology is not my thing - I did eventually find it however), fast fast internet... not the fastest I've ever experienced, but close, and well, the phone still rings. So that's new thing one.
Also, I got myself a laptop. It's the first computer I've ever bought for myself - all the others I've inherited or traded for. It came today. I was driving home & thinking to myself, "One of these days, I'm going to get home, and it'll just be there." And sure enough it was. It's a Mini9 - one of those little 9 in. netbook things. Doesn't even have an internal CD drive. But I got an external DVD/CD thing, so that's OK. And it's not top-of-the-line by today's standards, but it's still faster than my other computer. And it runs Ubuntu. So I boot it up, have it on the internet this side of 10 min (several of which were me going "OOOooooooooh!", I plug in the wireless mouse, and it works, I plug in the DVD/CD player, and it works, it's the easiest thing I've ever done in my life. Not quite, but it's really close. So now I'm unbelievably happy. Now to mess with the preferences...
Also... well, no, that's all I think. For now. Maybe more later.

Friday, January 16th I think perhaps I need to find somewhere beautiful, somewhere to walk awhile, remember the smells I've forgotten, forget some of the ones here. I need very badly to be able to forget the smell of french fries and fast food and antibacterial this and desanitized that, and remember what flowers smell like. What fresh-cut grass and fresh-baked bread smell like. The smell of life again.

Sunday, January 18th I started playing an online computer game again, but due to certain ... issues ... like connectivity ... I kept losing important quest items and so I stopped.

If you're going to post videos of yourself playing Vivaldi's Summer on an electric guitar on YouTube, please please make sure that the audio is at least decent. I'm not asking for perfect. Just, you know... decent. Where you can hear the tune through the static and such. Thanks.
And yes, I really have been doing nothing but watching YouTube and the television. My life is boring.

Monday, January 26th So, there's an ice storm going on:
Kindof like in December 2007:
But there are differences. We're still out of power, but if you look at the picture this time around, the people across the street DO have power... for now anyways, the rain still falls. Also, I have a laptop this time around and can update my site :). And I don't have to drive to work tomorrow at 3am, so I can sleep in... in the cold... unless they get the power back on rapidly. But let me tell you, it looks awesome outside.
So, I'm going to conserve power for a while now & get off, but perhaps later... if there's still internet later.
And... the power just came back on... so... yey!

Wednesday, January 28th Well, the ice storm barely knocked the power out at all. Then it was really really cold, and then it snowed. Here's some pictures, post-precipitation:
Oh, and in case you were wondering, even when I post 2 pictures, they're still large-ish (1024x768). So if you want to use them as a background, you totally can. Or if you want to see the larger ones on the pictures page, that works too. But the pictures take a long time to load if you're on dialup, so beware.
