So, again, my plans are foiled.

What plans you say? I was going to post about the importance of visual appeal. It was going to be well-written, with links, and references and such forth, describing to you (in case you didn't already know) why it is important for visual information to be appealing. Visual information includes how YOU look, how your website looks, your myspace page, the fonts you use in email. That stuff matters. And I was going to write a post about why.

But that will wait. I got home from work exhausted, as has been happening more often than I am happy with lately (need to get off my butt & exercise), and then i sat down, drank a nice little drink, and watched "Live Free or Die Hard". And so I will briefly review that movie.

First, it is the only Die Hard movie that I can recall watching. It is possible that I have watched others and forgotten, and it's also possible I have never seen any others. Also, I like Bruce Willis. He has been in a great many wonderful guy flicks, with explosions and beautiful women. And he was in Lucky Number Slevin, which is a very good movie.

Step One. Add action hero. Introduce hackers that can blow things up when you hit the delete button? How this works, I haven't exactly figured out. Next, add cute young boy with the 'I'm not a hero' complex (MacBoy), and combine action hero & cute boy. Now add cute girl with ties to action hero (the daughter). And now, add explosions. And... add more explosions. Some gunfights, some melee scenes (these were adequate, not awesome), and ... some more explosions. Introduce romantic undertones to cute boy/cute girl combo. BAM! There's your movie. All in all, it was quite enjoyable to watch, kept my attention the entire length (which is hard to do these days), and well, Bruce Willis took down a helicopter with a car. Really. It's a cool scene.

So, you should see it. And perhaps I'll get back to that other thing I was working on...

Long time since the last post, I apologize. I've been tired. I was going to post yesterday, but my compy crashed, and so I gave up for the day.

Today's Post: Ramen Recipe 1, Makes 1 Serving
NOTE: All these measurements are guesstimates. I don't measure, it's just 'about yea amount'.

What You Need:
  • 1 Pack of Ramen Noodles (I use the beef flavor)
  • Margarine
  • Frozen Mixed Vegetables
  • Teryaki Sauce
  • Shredded Cheese (I use the Marble Jack, Cheddar would probably work as well.)

  • What To Do:
    1. Stick about 1/2 cup Frozen Mixed Vegetables into a bowl.
    2. Crush Ramen Noodles into tiny spoonable pieces, and cook. (Ramen into pan with water, put on high to boil.)
    3. Microwave veggies for about 2-4 minutes. Optional, add margarine to veggies. I do.
  • The veggies will ideally finish just before the noodles are done.
  • 4. Drain water from Ramen noodles, put in bowl with steaming hot veggies.
    5. Mix in margarine, flavor packet, teryaki sauce (about 1 spoonful, depending on your tastes) and cheese.
    6. Eat.

Ok, that finishes out December. All the December 07 posts have been moved to the archive.

Also, I've been messing with the menu/body positioning on this site. If it looks funky on your computer, I'd like to know. It looks right on mine, but then, different browsers always look a little different from each other. Also, I think I'm going to mess with the color scheme a bit. Let me know what you think.

In My-Life-News, I'm working on a site for a friend, Yey!, but that site isn't done, so I'm not posting a link yet.

And now, for a pretty picture:
    Moon Picture
This is the moon, rising in the NE, from the backyard, on the evening of December 20, 2007. Or so my naming scheme leads me to believe.

Coming Up Soon: The bird whisperer. Stay Tuned.

So, Monday through Wednesday this week I was training. It was fun, interesting, and easy. Short days, all that. Wednesday night I get home, take a nap, get up for a few hours, and by dinner time I'm slightly nauseous. This is somewhat normal for me, it usually passes pretty quick. By 7pm I'm throwing up dinner and whatever else is in my stomach (not much), and I keep throwing up until midnight or so. Finally collapse asleep at around 3 or 4am (my normal bedtime is about 7pm), but at least I had Thursday scheduled off. Thursday I sleep until about noon or 1, and right around dinner-time, I start feeling nauseous again. So I call into to work for Friday (today). At least today I seem fine. No fever, and I'm able to keep my food down. Weirdest sickness I've had in a long time.

Sometimes I think back on my life. And here's what I remember.

Long days, the sun above me, spring is life and life is beautiful. No worries, no thoughts but now, staring up into an eternal blue sky, the deep cerulean extending into eternity, and eternity of space and time, for there is no time but now. Turning to the side and there's green grass. The smells come back and I can remember the smell of the grass, the smell of the soil, faint scents of violets wafting through the air.

Nights in front of the television. Not watching the television. Watching the computer screen in front of me, the im boxes far more important, multiple worthless conversations floating through my head, glowing green text against black backgrounds.

Warm days, the sunlight filtering through the windows, and 3 o'clock hits, and I'm free again. Hearing the voices of friends filtering in from the courtyard.

Leaves in the wind, fall. Cool breezes against my face, a walk down Brookside. Days off & gourmet coffee in my hand, the smells of coffee in my head. Life is about the little moments, blue sky above my head and clean clear air around me, the sights of humanity budding and blooming. Whatever happens, the smell of autumn leaves, the crunch of them beneath my feet, a day without worries, without shame or anger, sweet sweet moments to last forever.

Life is an eternity of moments. Remember always what you love.

So, I went to go purchase my spiffin' credit score/report today because I want not only to see what my report is, but also what the number attached to it is.

Error 170, we were not able to confirm your identity, please call some number.

Ok, whatever, I really want to see this number. So I call, get some nice lady on the other end, asks me a question about my single and only credit card, and I know that it is the only thing showing up on my credit report. What's the balance? I look it up on my online acct info, give her the number. "No, sorry, that's not what we have." "The January one right? What about the December one?" I give her both numbers, and neither match. And, I don't know for sure when that account was opened, because it was opened YEARS ago. I could look it up, but now I'm really freaking frustrated and I don't think I care that much anymore.

So, am I me? I think so, but then, maybe I'm mistaken. The evidence sure as heck ain't backing me up.
In other unrelated news, I think I'm going to buy "Advertising For Dummies" if it exists, because I really am no good at it, and I really really need to be.

First, it's January 31st, which I declare to be a holiday. The occasion? Taxes. In the U.S. anyhow. Why the 31st, if they're due in April? Because the 31st is when everywhere is supposed to have mailed W-2's. Why is this worthy of celebration? Because if you get money back, it means money is on the horizon. And if you don't, it means you can stop stressing about the taxes, do the taxes, and then you have one less thing to stress about. And so, Happy January 31st!
Ok, the actual news today - snow!
  • Average snowfall in Tulsa, Oklahoma each year/season: 8.5 inches
  • Data from the NOAA National Weather Service website
  • Today's predicted snowfall: 5-9 inches
  • Data from the kjrh.com (local news channel) website

The goal is to take pictures of this tree every couple of hours to get a time-lapse type thing. I live out near the Verdigris/Claremore area, so snow pictures are from home.
    As of 11:15am:

    As of 12:20pm:

    As of 1:25pm:

    As of 2:20pm:

The ground is pretty well covered in snow, so I'm going to take a break from time-lapsing. I may post if I make a snowman, or if there's significant coverage beyond what's out there now.
