Friday, August 8th
So, it's been a really long time since my last update. It's been a rough 2 weeks, for 2 reasons. 1: lots of work (not all bad, extra money==good), 2: my compy has had problems.
So, my compy has had problems. I've been fighting a virus, and I think I finally managed to ... destroy it. Utterly. Sortof. My OpenOffice Installer was infected. So now I do not have OpenOffice installed, nor as far as I can tell, the ability to install it. I'm going to mess with it a bit more, and hopefully I can make it work anyhow, because most of my critical text documents are saved in OpenOffice format. Yey. And the download is HUGE, so I don't really want to go back and download the darned thing. (No, I don't think it's the original download that was contaminated, I think it ... got infected. Later.) UGH!
That makes me grumpy. I <3 my computer more than most things, and not having it at 100% makes me unbelievably sad.
All last week my body was throwing a fit at me. One day, my eyes hurt REALLY REALLY bad, so I put eye drops in them. That helped. The next day my teeth hurt (I think I'd ... slept funny ... or something.) and I didn't know anything I could do about that, but that made me irritable. Now, I feel alright, and I've finally been able to actually draw things. I know, an artist who draws stuff... crazy.
At least the weather's nice. We had a whole string of triple-digit days. Which are really miserable. I did finally get the A/C in my car fixed, so I can drive in my car and not melt, which is nice.
It's going to be my birthday soon, and I haven't figured out whether or not I want to celebrate it. Traditionally I hate my birthday, because everyone's attention gets focused directly on me - which is precisely where I don't want it. I prefer people's attention be directed ... off to the side a bit. Or sometimes elsewhere entirely. But on the other hand, I really like that I was born and am not dead yet. I like these things. So I'm slightly inclined to celebrate. It's a tough decision.
My system is not currently stable. I need to fix this. It rebooted on me. Oh well. At least I don't have a virus. That I know of.
Oh, and the Olympics start today. Yey America.

Sunday, August 10th So, yey! I'm now dual-booting. I've got XP & Debian (Linux). I also fixed my XP install this morning. Everything's fine & wonderful. Neither one of them is at 100% yet. And I don't really know how to use the command line in Linux, which is ... important. But it looks promising. And now, since I have 2 OS's, I have a max of 200%... in my head. My XP is at about ... 75%, and Debian is at about ... 60% or so, for a total of 135%. Which is awesome.
I know people on both sides who'll say boot one or the other, but I can't yet. I still need both. So don't even bother me with it. It's my computer, and I'll screw it up however I want.
Also, I want a large USB drive, say 4GB. Or 10GB. If anyone's inclined to get me one... I'm OK with that.

Wednesday, August 13th So, I'm getting a little ahead of myself here. I created a new folder for the August posts, and get it all ready and everything, and then I realize that I'm a post ahead of when I would normally do that. Oh well, it's all ready... why waste that? So for the time being, there will only be 2 posts on this page. I'll fix it next time.
I don't really have anything to post, I just want you to know that I'm still here. That and I'm trying to be better about posting.
The weather's great. It's the middle of August and we're seeing highs in the 80's, which if you're not from around here, it's usually triple-digit temps. And rain... so much rain. It's wonderful.
Well, I guess I'll be back in a couple of days, and maybe I'll have something then, or maybe a picture.

Monday, August 18th Yey, Vacation! Which really in my world is just like a long weekend. Sleeping in 'til 8:30am and all.
Originally I was going to do something exciting on my vacation, like rent a hotel room and watch cable television all day (I don't have cable at home). But then, there's the car.
I've had a used car before, and it's pretty much guaranteed that there will be at least a few repairs involved. So, my car's being repaired, and I have to pay the insurance people money next month, so ... no hotel room with cable. Well, maybe one night. But nothing's officially planned.
What's wrong with it you ask? Well, it was making sounds. And so I took it to the car-place. And they told me what was wrong with it, and how much it would cost to fix it, and that's really all I know. I'm not a car person. Really. Mechanically challenged.
So that's all that's going on here.

Friday, August 22nd Yey, I'm 24 and not dead! Yey! It's my b-day, happy bday me!
Now to share some pictures. These are my new polar bears, and Ted.E's new outfits. Yeah, I know, you think it's supposed to be spelled Teddy, but it's Ted.E.Bear. Makes sense, really.
Sorry the pictures are kind-of dark, it's hard to think straight before coffee.

Monday, August 25th So yey, after the post on my birthday, my dad and I went and got a KVM switch and pulled the old Sony VAIO (win98) out of the garage, and re-set up all my computers. So here's the current setup:
2 computers
3 operating systems
3 physical hard drives (one is not hooked up right now)
Internet available on all 3 OS's
2 monitors (need to mess with settings)
So... yey!

Friday, August 29th It's been a long week. The other day I got a flat tire while driving on the highway, and had to get a new tire. And... it's just generally been a less-than-happy week/month. But, I figure, if there is such a thing as karma, I must be saving alot for later.
